Eric Hawkins received his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley, where he majored in Legal Studies. In 1997, he graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School. During law school Eric worked for the prosecutor's office at the Ramsey County Attorney's Office, working in both Adult Felony Court and Juvenile Court.

Upon graduating from Law School, Eric served as the Law Clerk for a Hennepin County District Court Judge in downtown Minneapolis. Later Eric returned to the Ramsey County Attorney's Office where he took a position as an Assistant Ramsey County Attorney. There he worked as a prosecutor on behalf of the State.

Eric made his transition to criminal defense by taking an attorney position in the Anoka County Public Defender's Office. After handling Misdemeanors for six months in the Anoka Office, he moved to the Adult Felony Division. After two years of criminal defense experience Eric took a Public Defender position in Downtown Minneapolis working on the Adult Felony Trial Team at the Hennepin County Public Defender's Office. There, Eric acquired an additional three years of criminal defense experience.

After five years of intensive criminal defense work, ranging from DWIs to Fraud to Homicide, Eric left the Public Defender's Office and started a private criminal defense practice. Contact us today at 612.824.5005.
